Born the eldest son of Irene & Coney De Lord,
You were confident & charming, intelligent & self assured.
During the Zanzibar Revolution of 1964,
Life was scary & dangerous with the future unsure.
Loving brother to Tony, Bernie & Loretta
You led them to the UK with Mama, for a life much better.
In Camrose Avenue you found a rental home,
Lived there for a year before buying Fairfield on your own.
You were always destined to make a mark
On this earth you walked and became our Patriarch
A gentle fun loving uncle we adored,
holidays, family parties, trips galore
Horsey bites and whistling bird noises, made with your mouth & hands
Was always on the cards when your visits were impromptu or planned!
How we screamed with laughter as you approached us unaware,
We loved how you used to check in on us, showing that you cared.
As we transitioned into adults & left Heming Road,
We saw much less of you until you bought an Eastbourne abode.
Your visits to the sunshine coast were always greeted with joy
Scrabble games & cups of tea, chapatis to enjoy!
How we used to sit & talk about the bygone years,
You were always keen to chat about your life over a few beers.
You lived an amazing 94 years, 6 years short of one hundred
Together we celebrate your life as nothing short of wondrous!
